EMDR

Effective PTSD treatment for anxiety, depression, and past abuse

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a highly effective, gentle, yet robust therapeutic intervention. During sessions, therapists facilitate the safe recall of distressing past events, accompanied by guided bilateral eye movements. This mechanism supports enhanced brain-body communication to resolve and alleviate the symptomatic presentation of past trauma. Crucially, the non-verbal nature of the recall process can significantly reduce patient distress, particularly when addressing long-standing or childhood trauma. Our clinicians employ this technique to assist the brain in reprocessing traumatic memories, thereby facilitating emotional healing.

While initially developed for trauma treatment, EMDR has demonstrated high efficacy across various mental health conditions, including anxiety, depression, obsessive-compulsive disorder (OCD), eating disorders, and bipolar disorder. This form of counseling is substantiated by evidence for producing lasting and effective change with less patient discomfort compared to other modalities.
